Courage
Courage, the greatest of all virtues!
the ability to do something that you know is difficult or dangerous
What do you need courage to do right now?
Perhaps you are like the millions of people all over the world concerned over the many daunting challenges facing our world today. Maybe you are feeling overwhelmed with
what you see and hear on the news. Or maybe you just received some bad news about your health or work, family, or experiencing financial hardship.
Our initial reaction is to worry, become anxious, doubtful and fearful of the future. What do you do? What do you turn to? Who do you turn to?
In the Bible, there is a wonderful story of a young man named Joshua who after his mentor moved on, he is charged by God to lead the Israelites into the promised land. Here is what God tells Joshua-“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
What do you need courage for today? Whatever it is you need courage for, know that God has already commanded you to be strong and courageous. God said those words to Joshua, because He knew Joshua needed to be reminded of God’s promises and commands. I encourage you today, to hold on to those very words. Be strong and courageous because God is with you wherever you go. He promised to never leave you nor forsake you. Have courage to live, love, forgive, take action and lead. When life becomes difficult and dangerous, know that courage is the soil by which all virtues spring forth and bear much fruit. The cure for fear is faith in action.
