Start With What You Have

Recently a friend shared with me an idea for a new project. When I asked him when he is planning to launch his new idea, he said “I’m waiting for all the pieces to come together so I can start.” I told him, start with what you have, and the rest will follow.” Quite often we all have moments when we wait for the stars to line up and for everything we need to fall into place. This waiting and prolonging can be devastating and detrimental to our success.

It begs to mention however, that before you launch your new idea, make sure you do significant research and prepare yourself for the task ahead. Preparation is key. As you start with what you have, you will soon realize the things you need will come to you because you took a step of faith in action. Life has a way of rewarding those who are diligent in their purpose and commitment.

As you begin to launch your new idea, here are some ways to help you guide your work:

  • Pray and ask God for wisdom.

  • Do extensive research on the market for your idea

  • Start with what you have

  • Ask for help from those closest to you

  • Seek a mentor or someone in that particular field that can guide and advice you

  • Stay committed and plan for sustainability

  • Start with the end in mind

  • Be patient.

  • Give yourself a chance

  • Enjoy the journey, don’t rush success
