A Christ-Centered Value Life

What do you use to measure the quality of your life? Do you make decisions using a value system? Did Jesus teach on values? If He did, what are they?  Jesus gave us a roadmap to follow. There is great truth in the words of Christ that demonstrate how to live a fruitful and blessed life by the values He spoke of and lived. Life is a result of what we value and how those values are the very criteria that drives our behavior. Setting a value system in your life,  marriage, and work will help you differentiate between what’s really important and what’s not. This is particularly true regarding finances, faith, communication and long term decisions. Living life without having a value system is like a ship without a compass or rudder, you and your family will be at the mercy of the waves of life tossing you back-forth. In Matthew 7:24-27 Jesus said, “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

3 Key Principles to start making value based decisions

  1. Who are you? -Each and every day your actions, not your words tell the world who you are. Be watchful and see what others say of you. Do your words match your actions.. In John 8:58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” Every word and work Jesus performed was always to glorify the Father. His words matched His action. You and I are created in His image. This matters greatly.

  2. Clarify your values- What do you stand for, your beliefs. Your convictions? Matthew 22:37-40 Love God, your neighbor as yourself

  3. Making Decisions- Let good values lead you in the decision making process. Values are your guide, they help you navigate through turbulent times. Remember, not making a decision is a decision. John 4:34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.” Jesus made a decision and made sure He lived it out.

I pray you build your life on the rock, the chief cornerstone Christ Jesus. May Christ alone be sufficient to meet your heart’s desire.
